ISRAEL ELECTIONS 🇮🇱

31.5% turnout at midday in Israel: a level reported as the highest since 1977. That year, Menachem Begin ended twenty-nine years of Labor rule: the first transfer of power since the founding of the State in 1948.

Four years after the trauma of the Yom Kippur War, Israelis were turning a political page. Golda Meir had nonetheless still won the December 1973 elections, just after the war.

Today, after October 7 and three years of war, are Israelis about to open a new political chapter? This strong turnout could be a sign of a change of government. It remains to be seen who will benefit from it and what majority will emerge from the ballot box.
